Cable theft in Greenside
Cable thieves are very active in Greenside at the moment, particularly in the following roads: Gleneagles, Greenside, Cruden Bay and Braeside Road.
The thefts are taking place in the same places on Gleneagles, Greenside Road, Cruden Bay and Braeside Roads. A Gleneagles Road resident on Monday reported a sixth incident in the same spot in five weeks.
It seems the thefts are taking place in the early hours of Monday and Thursday mornings between 1am and 4am.
The thieves appear to be coming from the golf course (Greenside Road) and from the park next to Pirates (Gleneagles, Cruden Bay and Braeside Road)
The regular theft of cables in these roads has led to regular power outages and although we have been successful in getting City Power to attend to the problem, they cannot replace cables indefinitely. We also need to be aware that power outages, especially with regards to street lights, encourages an increase in crime in that area, as many illegal activities can take place under the cover of darkness.
Please keep your eyes open for cable thieves and any other illegal activity. If you spot anything suspicious, you should report it immediately to CSS, ADT or Parkview SAPS.
